The Pinksters

Destination - Daytona Beach Feb 27 - Mar 8, 2009

Bike Week 2009 brought the group back together for yet another reunion of laughs and events. It was the week of "Shoot ya in the leg" and this saying got a lot of mileage.

The cold front that swept through Atlanta brought Mr Pinkster in early and delayed the plans of the other two. Ultimately they got here and we got a slow start due to the cold that they brought with them. We managed to start the week off with out them by visiting the Ironhorse Saloon for their legendary Steak Tip dinner. If you haven't tried it you need to and once you do, you'll be hooked.

Sunday it was cold and raining. The good thing about being somewhat local is that you can always jump in the cage (car) and get where you want to go without braving the weather. Of course, there is nothing worse than seeing bike week by enclosed vehicle. You pay more to park and pretty much get looked at as a wuss. So we ride when we can. Monday got us to Destination Daytona where we did some early shopping. I think everyone bought new parts for their bike and some were installed by the end of the day. Later that evening we met up with "SUPER PHIL" for dinner. We made our way to the White Eagle where it seems like everyone was have a good time. The more inebriated they were the more fun they seemed to have. But we learned from one of the waitresses that it is not alcohol that gives you the hangover, it is the waking up. Go figure, all these years of believing it was booze now we don't have to worry anymore. They say you can do in Korona what you can't do in Daytona and that seems to be pretty much true.

Mr. Pinkster brought his new purple chopper and it turned out to be a chick magnet. Usually when it happened, he was no where around and it didn't take much for one of the other guys to pretend to be the owner of the bike. The Trickster came down with a cold and that put a damper on some of the fun. But the rest of the guys went out and braved the cold. Not like they're not used to it coming from up north. Dion spent a lot of time in Daytona as his son is attending Embry Riddle University. Jonathon got to ride with a bunch of old bikers and he seemed like he was having a really good time.

The end of the week rolled around and the weather got nicer so we got out more and stayed out later. Friday meant that Dion and Dennis were going to leave and head for home. Mr Pinkster always heads out early Saturday morning. So we took our last ride on Friday morning. We rode down to Beach Street and walked through vendors tents, ate vendor food, and pretty much enjoyed the day. On the way home one of the bikes took a spill. We're not going to mention any names here but this is not the first time that this person had added a dent to his ride on the last day of his stay. Good thing he didn't get that new gas tank he was looking for on this trip. Other than some road rash on his arm and knee, he's ok. The aloe cream that I gave him to put on it is more like blow torch in a can so I don't think that he'll be using that again for any open wounds.

We still have not planned the annual ride for this year. At this rate, there may not be one.

Confirmed Participants

Allan a.k.a. "Mr. Pinkster" of Atlanta, GA
Allan got his name last year at Bike Week while showing us that he could perfect the Tuck and Roll in one continuous motion. To which the act got some stares of disbelief and a "What was that?" Allan rides wide glide but he has purchased an Harley Ultra Classic just for the 2008 Sturgis trip. Since the trip, he has traded his Dyna for a "Kawasaki Purple" chopper.
Aleta of Palm Coast, FL
Aleta made the trip in 2006 which was chronicalled as "The Mis-Adventures of Aleta". A hysterical cross country trip that could only become an annual event. After 5000 miles in 15 days she earned "Iron Butt" status. Aleta rides a Kawasaki Meanstreak 1500.
Richard a.k.a. "Tricky Ricky" of Palm Coast, FL
One of the few photos taken without him flipping the camera a "Bird". Ricky prides himself on his 3 motorcycles and will be riding a "Kawasaki Purple" 1988 Harley Classic. You always have to be on your toes around the Trickster!
Dennis of Duluth, GA
If you want to know something, it is faster to ask Dennis than look it up. We have lots of pictures of Dennis hamming it up. Dennis rides a Harley Softail called "The Bullet" and says he's made some mean modifications to it.
