Highlights of the day
We all start waking up about 6am. The first one up usually starts the coffee. Somehow I wonder why it is usually me. Debbie and Greg made it home safely and we can't wait to hear about the concert. Phil..... well we don't know when he will be home. He did run into a buddy from Atlanta a couple days ago.
Dennis wants to have us all quit our jobs and move to New York. We are going to set up a think tank on Madison Avenue. He thinks we can make tons of money coming up with slogans. But we definitely believe there is a market for PINK. Because "You can't drink if you ain't pink", says Mr. Pinkster. He even owns TWO pink t-shirts now. I think we will have a new pink product line developed by the time we get home. It's the latest trend you know.
We're thinking that we may make a trip to Spearfish Canyon today and then off to Devils Tower. But we have to start getting ready to come home. So tomorrow we will have to ship our gear back to the south. I'm not sure how many of the guys are looking forward to the ride home. I can say that the ride up is not what I remember it. I'm two years older and carry another 20 lbs and it has been a hard trip. My gel pad seat developed a wrinkle and is not as effective as it was when it was new so after about 30 miles, I'm starting to squirm to find a comfort zone on the seat. I also have to pack lighter going home due to the saddle bags starting to split. I better buy some more bungee cords and thank God Ricky has duct tape. I hope he has enough. He used it to tape Glenn's glasses together during the ride through the Badlands. I guess we should call him "Mr. Fix It".
The website is now completely full and will accept no more images. The guys are getting ancy so there is no time to make this complicated fix.
Some of the group decided that they had to go on to Deadwood and would wait for us there. Dennis had to go run back to Crazy Horse to pick up a book from an Indian Author. Rick and I took the computer back to the lodge and then waited on Dennis before heading up to Deadwood. Dennis didn't keep us waiting long. The three of us left for Deadwood. When we pulled into the parking lot the other group had just got there. They must have stopped for pictures.
We went into the Silverado Casino and had a Buffet lunch. As we were walking out the guys noticed a Playboy sign up. They wanted to watch the girls sign up to be chosen as bunnies.
We then continued on to Lead and into Spearfish Canyon. It is a very nice ride through the canyon with lots of places to stop for photos. But who needs to stop when you have Dennis snapping photos as he drives? As beautiful as it is, I don't think there are any of us that could tolerate the cold that it gets us here. Even the guys from GA who busted my chops for weeks about it being cold had to finally say.... "Geez it's cold here!"
After the ride through the canyon we headed back to the lodge. Dion stopped off in Deadwood, guess he was going to visit the casino. On the way home, Ricky's bike started acting up again. The shifter had come loose after the repair that Vic made to it. We are perplexed! If it will rattle loose after 100 miles, how are we going to get it 2000 miles home? With the upcoming storm that is expected to run the entire trip home, we are thinking that leaving early on Saturday might be the thing to do. Don't know yet, gues we'll have to sleep on it.
