Highlights of the day

Today is our last day in Sturgis. Overall, it has been a great trip. I've caught Allen out on the deck a couple times wishing he could stay. I don't belive any of the guys thought that this part of the country ever existed. And to think it took me 3 years to get him to make this trip.

We have to get down to the Post Office to ship our gear back home. 4 boxes are taped up and ready to go. Dion is driving us and our cargo downtown. I sure was surprised when I found the PO was only open from 9:30 to 10:30am. Good thing we didn't drag our feet or we would have been really screwed on getting these things home.

Ricky and I were thinking we would just go ahead and leave with the problems he was having with his bike and all. But Allen didn't want to go just yet. We waited until 9am and gave Sic Vic's another call. He said he could get it in the shop and take a look at it. So Ricky went on down there while we were at the PO. When we got done, we drove down to Sic Vic's and they were keeping the bike. So we all drove back to the lodge. Shortly thereafter, the MA group took off for a final ride south through Custer and Hot Sprintgs. The rest of us just puttered around the lodge waiting for the call about Ricky's bike. Finally at about 3pm it was ready. So Ricky and I took off for Vic's to get his bike. I never rode on the back of my own bike before, it's really not very comfortable and the lack of control is not something I think I want to get used.

We all went out for dinner to enjoy our last night out. We went to the Powder House Inn and other than Allen falling asleep in his glass of wine and making a mess, it was pretty nice. After dinner, we went back to the lodge to do some final packing and get a good nights rest before rolling out early in the morning. The first person up in the morning is to bang on the doors and wake everyone else.
