Today's Route
Today we are going to:
Highlights of the day
Today was kind of a slow day. Dennis, The Pinkster, Glenn, & Jill went to Sturgis. Dennis was going to stop off at Krull's Market to get some corn for Brianna at One Eyed Jacks. Allen needed to get a T-shirt and they were on a mission to find an Eagle pin for Ricky and they were going to have lunch and then come home. Phil and Dion hung out at the lodge for breakfast and then decided to go to the Internet Cafe and then on to Crazy Horse. Debbie and Greg had tickets to see Z Z Top at the Buffalo Chip so they took off around noon and said they wouldn't be home until early morning. Phil said he was taking his tent and bedroll and going up there too and would stay there. Ricky and I chose to stay at the lodge until the group came back from Sturgis and then we would all go down to Hill City and stop at the Slate Creek Bar to check the Internet and upload our story. When they got back, Dennis said Brianna couldn't believe that he brought her back some corn but she was looking forward to enjoying it later.
We rode down to the bar, and everyone checked their email and whatever while I was uploading photos. We found though that the photos weren't loading and I am thinking that the files were to large or because they are coming from all of our cameras, the extensions are not all coded the same. It's going to require some fixes to get them to work. So you probably won't hear from us again until we start heading for home on Sunday. We got a message from Bernie and he wrote:
Message: = What Happened? No updates since Day 4!
Did they make it ? Did Shirley Die?
Did Tuck N' Roll choke on his second bottle?
Did Phil show up?
This is like being a kid again and waiting for the next week's serial at the movie theater.
I guess that gives you a clue as to my age!
Question!
I've got to hear the story where Albo "Allen" got the name Tuck N' Roll! Please advise!
What ever it is, I'm sure that I have a better one for him. His name should be: Face Plant!
Take Care & Have Fun!
And Please Update!
The suspense is killing me!!
Allen and Dennis decided to walk downtown check out the shops. I continued to work on he webpage. Glenn & Jill went back to the lodge to start dinner. Ricky and I then went looking for the guys. I added to my collection of coffee mugs at the Hill City Harley dealer. Then we needed to go to the market for some things and Allen needed to stop at the Liquor store for ANOTHER bottle of Makers Mark. So yes Bernie, the second one has been choked down.
After dinner we decided to go see the lightshow at Crazy Horse. I think I have to say that this monument and display shows how horribly we treated the Native Americans. It gave us all a new respect for the American Indian. Custer would certainly be rolling in his grave if he knew he had been upstaged by Crazy Horse. We all decided that he got what he deserved.
We went back to the lodge and Dion, Glenn, and Mr. Pinkster wanted to go back out to find a bar downtown. They found the Mangy Moose with about 8 people in it. When they asked a young local man where everyone was, he said, "Try the other Mangy Moose on the outside of town". So they finished their drink and went down to the other Mangy Moose. There were 7 people there. Another drink and then they figured they would try the bar at 16 and 385. The owner, Darryl" was there and his brother Darryl. They pretty much figured that if they stayed there, they might discover that he had another brother named Darryl. But Darryl bought them all a drink and they headed back to the lodge. The only thing that was open was the gas station. Hill City has a population of 780 people. I bet other than Sturgis Rally, this is pretty much a ghost town.
