scenic trip to the Sturgis Rally, 2011.

Past Trips | Key West 2012 | Route 66 2013 | New Orleans 2014 | Mega Trip 2015

We are a growing group of riders who are joining together to share a road trip to Sturgis, SD. The "More the Merrier" is our motto and we welcome any who would like to join us and ride together. Sharing camraderie, fun and friendship, maybe even cutting some costs. You just never know what can happen on a trip like this, but one thing is for certain, it will certainly be an adventure to remember.

All brands and makes of bikes are welcome as long as they are Interstate worthy. Singles, couples, it just does not make a difference. We're a diverse, International group and we enjoy meeting new people. The intention is to have a fun, safe ride to the legendary Sturgis Rally.

The Trip
Our trip begins on the East and West coasts of Florida. We'll travel by primary, secondary, and Interstate highways to Sturgis, SD. Obviously, not everyone will start from St Augustine, and given the route, you can join up from any location along the way. The planned route is posted below in daily maps with the information on our accomodations and number to make reservations. You are welcome to ride along with us and meet us at any of those destinations, however, we do request that you let us know you will be joining our group. We intend to depart Sturgis area on the final Sunday of the rally for the return trip to NorthEast Florida. If you would like to just ride along, complete the form and we'll coordinate you into the route or hook you up with the western group.

Accommodations
We have secured the same lodge in Hill City that we had in 2008. At this time, we are completely sold out of available rooms.

Meet members of the group.
Aleta a.k.a. "Murphy"
Palm Coast, FL
Aleta made the trip in 2006 which was chronicalled by the Chrome Diva's as "The Mis-Adventures of Aleta". A hysterical cross country trip that was destined to become an annual event. Aleta rides a Kawasaki Meanstreak 1500. While on the 2006 trip, she made many friends who still keep in contact and meet in Sturgis for more great times. She inherited the name "Murphy" just because "stuff happens" just like Murphy's Law.
Richard a.k.a. "Tricky Ricky" or "TR"
Palm Coast, FL
One of the few photos taken without him flipping the camera a "Bird". Ricky prides himself on his 3 motorcycles and plans to trade his "Kawasaki Purple" 1988 Harley Classic for a new bagger for this trip. You always have to be on your toes around the Trickster as he has been known to deliver pranks thousands of miles from home! TR says since he has already ridden to Sturgis once, he may trailer his chopper. Guess we have a chase vehicle or as in the 2008 trip, a "tow truck".
Allen a.k.a. "Tuck-n-Roll"
Atlanta, GA
Allen got his name in 2007 at Bike Week while showing us that he could perfect the Tuck and Roll in one continuous motion and without spilling a drop of his Bourbon. To which the act got some stares of disbelief and a "What was that?" Allen traded his Dyna for a Harley Ultra Classic just for the 2008 trip that became known as the "Shirley Valdiz" due to the oil slick that he wore daily. Every year Allen seems to get a new Title or NickName. For 2008 it became, "Mr. Pinkster". Bike Week 2010 he became "Answer Man" our newest Super Hero! 2011?
Dennis a.k.a. "McGyver" & Renee
Cartersville, GA
We have lots of pictures of Dennis hamming it up. Dennis rides a Harley Softail called "The Bullet". Dennis said he wants to become an Iron Butt on this trip so if anyone is up for that, talk to him. Last we heard, the Bullet was getting some, ahem, "work done"Renee is going to fly out to Rapid City and we'll pick her up there.
Alec a.k.a. "Shiroffski = did I really drop my bike again?" & Irina
Alpharetta, GA
Alec has worked with Allen and Dennis in Atlanta over the years. Dennis says that Alec is from Lithuania. His wife, Irina will be flying out to Rapid City. Based on what I've seen from slow responses from Alec, I'm going to need a cattle prod. I hope he doesn't like to sleep in.
Jim a.k.a. "Doc"
Atlanta, GA
Jim works with Allen and Dennis in Atlanta. Jim says that he rides a BMW 1200 GS with lots of toys on it, he even mentioned A/C. He said he bought a windshield because he has eaten enough bugs and thought that he would save some for other riders who had maybe not eaten as many. Allen says that Jim is already accustomed to making 400-500 mile a day rides, so I'm sure there will be "no whining" from Jim.
Fred a.k.a. "Cooler"
Montgomery, AL
Fred said that he rides a Yamaha Stratoline. TR said it was a scooter, which had me pretty worried until I realized that TR was being his usual "Tricky" self. We'll probably meet up with Fred in Mountain View, MO. In his last message he said he was already packing! Just this past week Fred informed us that his leaving would be delay due to matters relating to the April tornadoes in Alabama. He will now be shipping his bike and flying up.
Phil a.k.a. "Grandpa"
Clearwater, FL
Phil told us that this trip is on his bucket list. He said he is 74 years young and will be riding his Suzuki 650 Burgman Exec. It runs like the big bikes although it is classified as a scooter. When he was told that he would be getting some flack about riding a scooter. His response was "when you all grow up, you can get a Burgman too!" Response to that? I got nothin'.
Steve a.k.a. "Hollywood" & Amy
Lakeland, FL
Steve and his wife Amy found our group trip on the internet and wanted to join up. Steve is going to ride up with us on his new Harley Limited. His wife Amy will fly into Lincoln, NE and ride the last day. He said he rides a Harley but doesn't mind the metric guys. He's looking forward to some intellectual and moronic conversation and thinks this trip will be great fun. Amy had a last minute accident and can't join us on the trip.
Linda a.k.a. "Road Queen"
Homosassa, FL
Linda rides a 2001 Harley Davidson Road King Classic. She said she's been riding for 36 years and spends much of her time promoting riding for women. More than likely she'll leave us in Sturgis and head west for Yellowstone, Glacier, and the west coast of California and take a route through the southern states for home. www.RoadQueenUSA.com
Dion a.k.a. "the Duganster"
Brewster, MA
Dion has travelled with us many times before and he's usually always a last minute addition to any function. Since he is making this trip solo, he is going to ship his Harley out from MA and fly out to Rapid City. We were hoping his son Jonathon would make the trip as well as we enjoy his company also.
Lynne & Dan a.k.a. "Saltine...MF"
Manning, SC
Aleta, Lynne, & Dan all shared a cabin in Hill City on the 2006 trip. We have been great friends ever since. Dan traded "Ethel - The Troublehead Shovelhead" for a 2010 Harley UltraClassic and Lynne has been wanting to get another Dyna before this trip so that she can ride her own bike once again. They have reservations at the haunted hotel in Hill City, SD for part of the week so we may see them there. Concerning the nickname...... nobody tells the story like Dan!
Jeff a.k.a. "Father Time" & Jeri
Tallahassee, FL
Jeff found our trip on the Internet and he thought that making a trip with a group would be much more fun than riding alone. He is a clockmaker by trade and rides a HD Heritage Softail and they have reservations in Rapid City but said if we have a cancellation they would much prefer to stay at the lodge with us. I told him his backside will hurt a lot more from laughing on this trip than his bike saddle. Jeff said that Jeri said she is already planning a trip for 2012. Jeff has a motorcycling forum website in the Tallahassee area.
Drew
Bradenton, FL
Drew contacted us back in April and I thought he made other plans but he since decided to make the trip with us. Drew rides a BMW K1200LT and said that this is his first trip out west and he will be camping at the Buffalo Chip to get the full experience of the the Rally. We figure we'll find him camped out on the porch one morning after a few days of that zoo. We just hope he doesn't lose his tent.
Jeff a.k.a. "Burn em up, Jeff"
Henry, TN
Jeff is from Henry, TN and says he just retired recently from law enforcement but he's not quite sure he likes it. So he's doing some traveling and trying to make up his mind. His wife isn't interested in motorcycling and he was looking for others to make the trip to Sturgis as he says "It's just something I gotta do, at least once". We'll probably be meeting Jeff in Sikeston, MO or Mountain View.
